Yesterday was a big day for Coach Calipari and the University of Kentucky. They received verbal commitments from two of the top players in the nation.
Brandon Knight, ranked by Rivals.com as the #1 prep prospect in the country, committed to Coach Calipari yesterday. The 6'3" PG from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida won the Gatorade National Player of the Year as both a Junior and Senior. Knight appears to be the total package. He does not have the speed like John Wall but Knight is a much better shooter and is known as one of the best on the ball defender's coming out of high school.
Kentucky also received a verbal commitment from the Rivals.com #1 ranked player in the Junior class Mike Gilchrist. The 6'6" small forward from New Jersey is considered one of the best players to come out of high school in a long time.
Calipari has a track record of preparing kids for the NBA and as long as that continues I would expect to see a lot of these blue chip kids come to Kentucky to play for him.
