Reports: Butch Jones to accept Cincinnati Football Position

CFB: Central Michigan vs Northern Illinois 12 November
There are several news media outlets including ESPN that are reporting that the Cincinnati Bearcats and Central Michigan coach Butch Jones are working on contract terms and are expected to officially announce Jones as head coach sometime on Wednesday. As most of you probably know Central Michigan is the school where Brian Kelly came from prior to coming to Cincinnati, it looks like Mike Thomas is hoping that lightning will strike twice. Jones, in three seasons at Central Michigan, compiled a 27-12 record and three bowl games.

Jones brings the same high powered offense that Brian Kelly ran at Central Michigan and would expect to try to implement the same system for Cincinnati. So we should expect to continue to see the spread offense at Nippert.

So what do you think? I know a lot of people were looking for a "big name" coach but remember when Kelly came here three years ago he was not a big name. Personally I would have liked to see them hire Skip Holtz, but I think you will see some continuity with Jones carry over from BK's system.
