With the San Francisco Giants Pitcher Johnathan Sanchez pitching the first no hitter of the 2009 baseball season last week I was curious as to how many Reds pitchers have thrown no hitters. We all know about Johnny Vander Meer's back to back no hitters in 1938 and Tom Brownings Perfect game in 1988. But do you know any of the other names on the list? Below are a list of all of the Reds no hitters since 1900:
Noodles Hahn
July 12, 1900
Reds over the Phillies 4-0
Fred Toney
May 2nd, 1917
Reds over the Cubs 1-0 in 10 innings
Hod Eller
May 11, 1919
Reds over the Cardinals 6-0
Johnny Vander Meer
June 11, 1938
Reds over the Boston Braves 3-0
Johnny Vander Meer
June 15, 1938
Reds over the Brooklyn Dodgers 6-0 (Vander Meer did it on back to back starts a feat that has never been accomplished and has not happened since)
Clyde Shoun
May 15, 1944
Reds 1-0 over the Boston Braves.
Ewell Blackwell
June 18, 1947
Reds 6-1 over the Boston Braves

Cincinnati 1-0 over the Cubs in 10 innings
George Culver
July 29, 1968
Reds over the Phillies 6-1 in the 2nd game of a double header
Jim Maloney

Reds 10-0 over Houston Astros. (In the very next game of the series Don Wilson of Houston would pitch a no hitter against the Reds)
